Be Cautious: Knocked Up
Ironically, you should be very cautious when sitting down to watch Knocked Up. I didn’t catch this flick in theaters, but all my friends were raving about it. I went into it expecting more than I got. With the way all my friends made it sound, I was in for the time of my life. While this movie was good, I didn’t find it to be extremely entertaining. It attempts to be a cross between a drama and a comedy, but those two don’t mix too well. The basic plot is that Ben Stone, a man who likes to get stoned, has a one night stand with Alison Scott, and Alison ends up pregnant. Ben finds out, and it changes his whole life.
There are several funny parts in the movie. Ben and Pete (a fantasy baseball loving husband) are probably funniest when they are together. I do suggest you see this film, but it shouldn’t be at the top of your ‘To See’ list. It really is just another comedy, and while well written, it definitely is not ‘The Movie of the Century’.
