Confusing, Confusing, Confusing: The Departed

The Departed PosterYou know, when I sit down to watch a movie, I enjoy being able to understand it. The Departed, starring Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Leonardo DiCaprio is a fine but confusing film. I didn’t really pick up on the movie until about halfway in, and even after seeing the entire thing, I still have about 50 questions. However, from what I did understand, I thought it was a great movie. As always, Damon plays his role to perfection, as did Nicholson and DiCaprio.

The movie came in at about 2.5 hours, which I thought was a bit much. Some things could have been cut, like the whole Damon and DiCaprio dating the same person. Things should have been laid out more clearly from the beginning. In fact, I only remember the names of Damon (Colin Sullivan), Nicholson (Frank Costello), and DiCaprio (William Costigan). It was a pretty good movie, but considering all the confusion, I couldn’t give The Departed a great Movie Crab rating.

So, you pretty much don’t like movies that are interesting. Its confusing because it makes you think, which probably means you are too lazy to think during a movie. I really wasn’t that hard to understand. Overall, I think it was a great movie.

I give it an 8.5/10
