Chalk: Real Teaching Leaves a Mark

Categories: Drama, Documentary, Comedy.

Chalk PosterI found Chalk to be one of the better movies I watched this year. It is a documentary about 3 new teachers at a high school. I’m not sure exactly how true any of it is, but nonetheless I found it to be very inspiring. It was a look into the real life of a teacher. My favorite character was Mr. Lowrey. He was a first year teacher and throughout the 85 minutes of the movie, you get to see him go from a shy guy that no one respects to a cool teacher that the students like. There are a few funny scenes in the movie, and there are also little segments like The Office where the character will comment on the current situation.

So, all that is good, what about the bad? Anyone that has absolutely no relation to school would not enjoy this film. If you’ve got kids in school, currently attend school, or currently teach in a school, you will love it. This is one of the few films that I wish they put another hour into, but with the way it ends, you know that Chalk is a one time gig.
